Useful Information
Corkage
If you wish to use your own choice of champagne or wine, Talking Point can offer a corkage facility. This is £7 per bottle.
Quotes
If there is anything in the menu’s you don't see or would like us to quote on, please contact the Events Team and we can provide you a price for this.
Suppliers / Catering
Unfortunately, Talking Point do not allow you to bring your own food/organise the catering yourself. We have a range of excellent quality caterers that supply to us on a regular basis. These caterers have provided us with the relevant certificates and we are satisfied their services are to a high standard. This includes outside caterers such as Ice cream Sellers, Hog Roast Specialists and Burger Vans.
Children’s Entertainment Room
It is possible for Talking Point to allocate a small room for children to play in. We do not provide any colouring or crayoning materials or entertainment but can provide a DVD player and Plasma screen. However, this room is charged at an additional £100 and we ask that children are supervised at all times. Our staff cannot be responsible for checking on the welfare of these children as they will be busy looking after you and your guests. Should any damage be caused to this room, this will also be taken from your bond.
Children’s Safety
Talking Point welcome children to the centre, however, we do ask that they are supervised at all times during your wedding. There are many balconies that are very high in the centre and we ask that they are accompanied by at least one adult and supervised at all times. Talking Point cannot be held responsible for accidents that may happen when children are left unsupervised.
Hotel Rates
Talking Point has partnerships set up with local hotels in the area. Contact the Events Team for our special rates for you and your guests.
Cutting Costs
We understand that in the current climate, couples are trying to cut costs, and may decide not to give guests a wedding breakfast. This is fine, but we do politely request that you provide your guests with canapés as an alternative to prevent guests from getting too intoxicated and spoiling your special day.
Terms and Conditions
Booking
A non-refundable deposit of £500.00 is payable at the time of booking to secure your wedding date. The wedding must be paid for in full 8 weeks before the wedding. You will also be required to pay a £500 bond at least 2 weeks before the wedding. Providing there is no damage to the venue, this bond will be returned in full after your wedding.
Min/Max Numbers
Ceremonies held in the Boardroom are subject to minimum numbers of 10 and maximum numbers of 20. Ceremonies held in the Forum are subject to minimum numbers of 20 and maximum numbers of 70. The Wedding breakfast in the Forum is subject to minimum numbers of 20 and maximum numbers of 60. Evening celebrations based on the 1st and 2nd floors are subject to minimum numbers of 20 and maximum numbers of 150.
Cancellation
In the event of a cancellation of more than 6 months prior to the date, your deposit will be retained and no charge will be applied. Cancellation within 6 months to the date will incur a charge of 50% of budget costs based on advised numbers at the time of the booking.
Health and Safety
All weddings will have security provided as standard. Talking Point will cover the cost of this. The security personnel will remain discrete and unassuming. This is to assist TP staff at the end of the evening. Talking Point is subject to statutory regulations including, without limitation, Liquor Licensing, Fire Regulations, Health, Safety and Environment. Clients, their employees, their guests and associated third parties must therefore comply with these requirements as may be directed and enforced by Talking Point.
Extended License & Alcohol Policy
Talking Point has an alcohol license until 12am. Last orders at the bar will be called at approximately 11:30pm. For an additional charge of £100 an hour the license can be extended until 2am. Please ask TP staff for further information in regards to this. We operate a strict 21 policy. Our staff will not serve alcohol to members of the public that look under 21, therefore we advise that younger guests bring suitable identification with them. Any guests that bring or attempt to bring alcohol with them into Talking Point will be removed from the building. Any guests that are abusive to the Talking Point team or attempt to cause damage to the building or contents of the building will also be removed from the building.
Prices & Contracts
All prices (other than the venue hire charge) are subject to change without notification. Prices will increase yearly. Talking Point will honour the venue hire price at the time of booking but guests will be expected to pay the current price for catering and all other extras. All prices in our March 2011 brochure are inclusive of VAT at the current rate.
Terms and Conditions on Extras
Music & Entertainment – Including DJ’s and tribute acts
Talking Point can book entertainment on behalf of its’ clients. DJ prices start at £300.00. Clients are welcome to source their own DJ/Entertainment, however a surcharge of £100.00 will be incurred and copies of the chosen Entertainers public liability insurance certificates will need to be given to Talking Point staff.
Centrepieces
Talking Point can provide bespoke centrepieces for its clients. Prices start from £25.00 depending on the clients requirements.
Clients can source their own centrepieces and table decorations; however these must arrive to Talking Point fully prepared. Any assistance needed from Talking Point staff (such as blowing up balloons) will incur a surcharge.
Talking Point’s floral package
Includes the following:
- Reception display – in neutral colours
- 4 Balcony arrangements – in neutral colours
- A single flower in a glass vase, in keeping with the bride and grooms colour scheme on Viewpoint tables and in all toilets
- 2 x large displays – in neutral colours for the lecterns in the forum
Clients can hire this package for £150.00. Clients can source their own flower arrangements for the centre; however these must arrive to Talking Point fully prepared. Any assistance needed from Talking Point staff (such as arranging the flowers) will incur a surcharge.
Linen
Talking Point will provide white or black chair covers and linen napkins for the wedding breakfast.
Linen for the round tables in the forum and trestle tables in Viewpoint is £100.00. Chair bows to match client’s colour scheme start at £2.20 per bow, depending on the fabric chosen. It is compulsory when booking your wedding at Talking Point to hire linen for the tables. Chair bows can be hired upon request.
Talking Point will provide paper napkins for the evening buffet. Linen napkins are charged at £1.00 each if clients prefer these to paper napkins for the evening buffet
